Greenbelt, MD – greeNEWit participated in this year’s Energy Awareness Day at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The event was held as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s celebration of Energy Action Month. Each October, innovative energy and water-efficiency programs and projects, including the development of renewable energy resources, are promoted throughout the nation.

greeNEWit employees, Josh Notes, Brad Eisenberg, Julie Roby, and Matt Evans, talked with attendees about the importance of building more sustainable infrastructure and providing comfortable, healthier interior environments. They pointed to home energy audits as a planning tool when thinking about improving home efficiency. Through the EmPOWER Maryland initiative, Maryland residents can have an energy audit for $100 (a $400 value) and are eligible for up to $3,800 in utility rebates toward recommended projects such as air sealing and insulation. These projects will help the State achieve it’s goal of reducing energy consumption by 15 percent by 2015.

“We appreciated the interactive atmosphere of the event,” said Julie Roby, greeNEWit’s director of residential energy solutions. greeNEWit had a booth in the main auditorium along with other vendors like EnerNOC and Pella Windows. She added, “It was great to meet so many community members who are conscious of their effect on the environment. We love highlighting convenient and affordable approaches to energy efficiency.” Other topics included solar leasing and choosing a renewable energy supplier.
