save money

greeNEWit is a leader in the Multi-Family Quick Home Energy Checkup (QHEC) Program implemented by the Maryland Public Service Commission. This allows residential and multi-family homes to get energy upgrades at no additional charge to the monthly utility bills of tenants and owners. The upgrades include installation of energy efficient CFL light bulbs, aerators, low flow shower heads, hot water heat wraps and pipe insulation. Through this collaborative effort, we’ve installed 61,778 compact fluorescent light bulbs to more than 30,200 residences in the state of Maryland and are saving 4,859,232 kWh of energy and 244,631,140 gallons of water annually.

new perk for top

For many young job hunters, a prominent employee-volunteerism program is a strong selling point. At greeNEWit, employees can volunteer on company time and the company dime. The QHEC technicians are paid for the hours they work.  If a team completes a multi-family site visit a day early, greeNEWit will lend these skilled employees to nonprofits and struggling small businesses around the Mid-Atlantic region. So far employees have volunteered at the Elkridge Food Pantry, 5660 Furnace Ave., Elkridge, Maryland. As the program expands, greeNEWit employees will not only volunteer time, but also provide professional services and share their knowledge in energy efficiency. This program fosters environmental stewardship and allows employees to gain a broader perspective on business when they do their jobs in different settings. Read more...

Cleats for Bare Feet is a social project by greeNEWit that collects boys and girls second-hand cleats (athletic shoes) and sporting equipment and sends them to children across the globe. On June 16 and 17 at the 2012 Mason Dixon Cup soccer tournament in Hagerstown, we collected 80 pairs of soccer cleats, 30 shin guards and 40 jerseys for distribution among organizations in Haiti, Kenya, Jamaica, South Africa and the US. Each pair of cleats will help children everywhere run faster, play better and connect through the love of the game.
