FIRST ANNUAL STEM DAY


On October 26th, 2012, greeNEWit sponsored Fulton Elementary’s first annual STEM Day to a great success. Students learned all about sustainability in their homes and the environment through an energizing assembly and nine activities that explored a variety of themes.

2012 STEM Day highlights include:

- $500 raised for Fulton Elementary and $500 for its teachers
- students learned how a real company uses the principles of
  STEM to achieve their environmental and efficiency goals

- energized the Green Schools re-certification process

The Maryland Entrepreneur Awards were created to recognize leaders throughout Maryland who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit through business, technology and social awareness. greeNEWit was selected because of its achievements to helping residents and businesses save money in Howard County by implementing energy efficiency measures and adopting green best practices.

Extreme Entrepreneur Tour

 

Jason Jannati has accepted a special invitation to join the 2013 Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour. He will travel the nation, speaking to various youth between the ages of 16 to 24 about being a successful entrepreneur in today’s economy. At the first event for Jannati, he spoke to 300 youth in October at Cuesta College in San Luis Opisbo, California.
 
“We are very happy to announce the addition of Jason Jannati as one of our featured speakers on the 2012 EET,” Co-Owner of the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour Arel Moodie said. “His story of taking a passion of his and turning it into a wildly successful business epitomizes the message the EET brings to colleges all across the country. We know Jannati's story will inspire students to believe their dreams are possible and help them take action on their business ideas.”

DAY OF SERVICE

greeNEWit joined the Green Apple initiative of the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to put all children in schools where they have clean and healthy air to breath, where energy and resources are conserved and where they can be inspired to dream of a brighter future. On September 29, 2012, advocates from around the world, including students, teachers, parents, elected officials and organizations, came together in support of healthy, sustainable schools by taking action in their communities. howard county's SHOP WITH A COP PROGRAM

 

This year, greeNEWit partnered with the Howard County Police Officers’ Association to spread a little holiday cheer. We donated to the association's annual underprivileged children's holiday Shop-With-A-Cop Program. The program supports hundreds of kids locally. Proceeds go toward taking under privileged children out with one of the Howard County police officers to purchase a holiday gift.
“Helping others in need is what this season is all about,” greeNEWit Co-Founder Jason Jannati said. “As active members in the Howard County community, it’s touching to learn that some of these children weren’t interested in buying gifts for themselves, but in buying things for others.
