greeNEWit Being Active Amongst Startups In the Maryland Entrepreneurial Community

COLLEGE PARK, MD  – Startup Maryland announced that it will formally launch its effort to ignite entrepreneurship and bring together the incredible resources the state has in its innovation eco-system. greeNEWit Chief Communication Officer Jason Jannati was invited to speak about his experience working with the initiative, which strives to drive visibility and greater outcomes for entrepreneurs and startups, at the formal kick-off event on March 30, 2012.

“We're honored to announce a full-slate of celebrations of innovation and entrepreneurship,” stated Michael Binko and Julie Lenzer Kirk, members of the Startup MD Organizing Board.  “Be forewarned – if participants are not prepared with some sort of helmet or protective-Armour the energy of this event may prove to be too much for them to handle,” they added.

From the Welcome Message by Scott Case (CEO of Startup America Partnership) to the Closing Conversation with Kevin Plank (Founder and CEO of Under Armour) the event will be packed with some surprises related to the following themes:

• Maryland Pride
• Entrepreneurship is a Full-Contact Sport℠

This regional initiative launched out of the Startup America Partnership ( Driven from within the community and led by entrepreneurs, the organization is meant to be locally-operated and inclusive. Building on the themes forged by the national Partnership, this initiative strives to connect innovation communities and recognize the importance of startups, rampups and speedups to the state and regional economies. They rally entrepreneurs, supporters and other innovation stakeholders around four main initiatives—access to capital, resource mapping, revenue opportunities/corporate connections and celebration/awareness.
