“2013 Business Exchange” in MMHA Advocate

December 1, 2013 Written by  Comments Print

MMHA’s 3rd Annual Business Exchange has raised the bar for MMHA fundraising again this year. This event grossed about $40,000 and netted close to $25,000 for the MMHA and NAA legislative efforts! Business Exchange combines the format of speed dating with a reverse trade show. This year we had more than 80 representatives from 28 of our Owner/Manager companies sitting at trade show tables, while 145 Associate members were given the opportunity to speak with each for six minutes.

Our Associate members received great personal face time with potential and existing customers and our Owner/Managers got to learn about new companies and products just in time for budget season. Proceeds of this event went to bolster our legislative efforts nationally, state wide and locally. Mary Jo Taylor of Capital Funding, said this event was great because: “I had the opportunity to meet certain new prospective clients - which I may not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.”

Brett Weil from greeNEWit told us “I loved the Business Exchange event! It helped me book a serious amount of business from an owner that I had been in touch with for a while, but needed to meet in person. Thanks MMHA!”

Some of the biggest excitement of the night was the new silent auction. Attendees bid on lunch dates with some of the Baltimore rental real estates biggest names. All proceeds from the auction went to support MMHA’s Political Action Fund (PAC). With the help of eight generous associate members, we raised $10,600! Congratulations to the winners and thank you so much for helping to support our PAC.

A well-attended happy hour with heavy appetizers – including our very popular potato bar! – followed the event at no additional cost to the attendees. Regional Managers from a few Owner/Manager companies such as Blue Ocean Realty and Home Properties also came to join in on the fun. MMHA would like to thank all of the participating Owner/Manager and Associate members who helped make this event such a success. MMHA is committed to improving our events in any way that we can, so if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, we would love to hear them. You can also contact us if you are interested in joining the Business Exchange Committee to help plan this event with us for next year.
